On Independence Day we went to a local park that always has a great fireworks display. During the day they also have a few business and craft booths and several bands that play throughout the day.
Aaron and Will went to browse the booths by themselves, a little while later my mom and I noticed them stopped at a booth chatting with one of the men who was running it. Yes, Aaron and the man with a red polo on were having quite the conversation together. Will just stood quietly by listening. Which booth was it?
It was the booth raising money for families of Marines. The man he was talking to? Well he was a retired Marine. Conversation? Well it revolved around the National Guard with a smattering of Marines thrown in for good measure.

As I snapped some photos of the conversation (from a distance, hence the bad quality) I thought how weird it was seeing him talking to someone about joining the military. After all, he’s only 15 1/2, he has several years more before… <GULP> maybe not so many years as I thought. Strange. Very, very strange to me…
Moving on.
A few hours later Rob and Corin showed up with all the kiddos.

The boys quickly made a friend to play frisbee with.

I was able to get some one on one time with a certain Little Miss _______(to be announced). She was quite talkative and full of smiles that evening.

As it became dark Corin brought out some glow sticks she had brought with her.
The boys curled up together under a blanket as they waited for the fireworks.

The rest of us visited for awhile longer before they started.

I just realized that I didn’t get any photos of the fireworks this year. Trust me, they were fantastic as always!

Sunday night we broke out some sparklers. Will LOVES these things, so we try to buy a pack every year.

I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Getting a quick cool down in the middle of the day.
Besides, who would have operated the water canons to insure they got fully soaked if we had ridden?
I do not recall what they called this ride, but it was a ton of fun!
Why the double decker carousel of course!
More fun to come…
